Bollywood filmmaker Amar meets a beautiful film actress named Gul and falls helplessly in love with her. They then decide to get married and start their journey together. After a few years of living harmoniously and happily together, cracks in their marriage begin to appear. They have many differences and appear incompatible. Gul then learns that she is pregnant and leaves Amar’s house. Having no other source of income, Gul becomes a high profile prostitute and Balaam Hyderabadi is her pimp. Gul meanwhile gives birth to a girl Sona and sends her away to a hostel as she grows up so she wouldn’t know her mother’s profession. Soon Gul gives birth to a son named Mohan.
As Gul begins to age her pimp asks her to get another young girl so she can depend on her earnings. Reluctantly she gets a girl called Roopa and is later shocked to meet her own daughter Sona in the hospital. The movie is directed by D S Azad and produced by M L Jain and Geeta Ahuja. The music is composed by Usha Khanna and the lyrics are written by Kulwant Jani. The star cast includes Shailendra, Shekhar Suman, Shashi Kapoor, Sharmila Tagore, Natasha, Ram Mohan, Jankidas,Yunus Perwaiz, Gulshan Grover, Nilu Phule, Shail Chaturvedi, Heena Kausar, Asha Singh and Mumtaz Begum.
