Gopinath is a hawaldar in the police force and hopes to get promoted someday. He lives a meager life with his wife Chanda and son Tinku. Fed up of his lack of promotions and money he goes to the Hanuman temple to pray for a miracle. After he returns to the police station, to his surprise, he has not only been promoted but also has a salary rise. He cannot believe his ears and goes back to the temple to thank God. His happiness is however short lived when Tinku is kidnapped. He then comes to know that his look-a-like named Kishan has been doing all the stunts and getting him promotions. Gopi now has to prove that he is not Kishan and vice versa.
The movie is directed by Mukesh Duggal and produced by Mukesh Duggal. The music is composed by Anand Milind and the lyrics are written by Sameer. The story and screenplay is written by Anees Bazmee. The cinematography is by Akram Khan and Rajiv Mukherjee. The star cast includes Sunil Shetty , Shilpa Shirodkar, Karishma Kapoor, Shammi, Suresh Oberoi, Mohan Joshi, Master Imran, Mustaq Khan, Abhimanyu, Kishore Bhanushali and Aruna Irani.
