Asha is the only child of her parents and they live a poor life in Bombay. After a few years Asha’s mother passes away leaving her at the mercy of her alcoholic father. He remarries and brings home a step mother for Asha who dislikes her and is also an alcoholic. One day Asha brings home her friend Guddu, but her step mother humiliates and throws him out of the house. A furious Asha pushes her step mother down the stairs, which results in her death. Having had enough of her erratic behavior, her father gives her away to a man named Chakravorthy who later marries her. However being impotent, he is unable to keep her happy. Asha’s behavior keeps getting worse year after year. When her pet parrot tries to escape, she clips its wings. One day she takes her broken car to the garage and meets the mechanic named Jai and gets attracted to him. When he comes home to return her car, she seduces him and gets intimate. She keeps taking her car for repairs to Jai, but he now refuses to get seduced by her. Soon she learns that he is seeing another woman named Robby and tries to get her out of her way. The film is directed and produced by Akbar Khan. The music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji and the story is written by Sagar Sarhadi. The star cast includes Ashok Kumar, Akbar Khan, Ranjeeta, Smita Patil, Naseeruddin Shah and Amrish Puri.
