Geeta is a simple girl living a poor lifestyle with his nurse mother. She sings and dances in a local hotel to earn her living. One day she meets the wealthy Lalit and falls in love with him. Lalit meanwhile tells his father that he would like to marry Geeta but he flatly refuses and asks him to go abroad to finish his studies and forget about Geeta. Geeta meanwhile is pregnant with Lalit’s child and gives to a baby boy. Her mother in order to avoid the stigma on her unmarried daughter tells her that the child was still born.
Lalit then arrives in India to cremate his father. He then locates Geeta and marries her. She conceives a child but unfortunately this time the child is still born. Geeta’s mother then tells her the truth about her son. They come to know that a widower named Mala has adopted him. Mala refuses to let go of the child and a case if filed in court. A witness in court turns the case around. The film is directed by Chetan Anand and produced by Chetan Anand. The star cast includes Jackie Shroff, Sanjeev Kumar, Zeenat Aman, Priya Rajvansh, Kamal Kapoor, Bharat Bhushan, Sudhir Dalvi and Dina Pathak.
