Madhav is a student from Bihar who joins a Delhi college and meets Riya and the falls in love with her, but she does not want to make any commitment to their relationship thus considers her as only as his Half Girlfriend.
The film Half Girlfriend has Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles who essay the roles of Madhav and Riya. Riya comes from a rich background, belonging to a family of entrepreneurs. While Madhav is a rustic, rural young boy good in sports. He plays basketball but is not well versed and fluent in English. He gets into the university on sports quota at the campus where he meets the rich girl Riya Somani who is also admitted in the university on sports quota. Both become good friends and help each other. Madhav and Riya start dating each other and like each other a lot.
The film is based on the novel with the same name by the writer Chetan Bhagat. The film is shot in several cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, Varanasi, New York and Cape Town. The movie that was released in 2017, is a story that is re-told as a flashback by Madhav when he is asked to speak English in an interview. The film moves from current to flash back in many parts. An interesting story that keeps you glued to the film which ends with the couple being married and having a baby girl.
