Vasudha, played by Vidya Balan is a single mother to a son and has been waiting for her husband since 5 years. She works as a florist and meets Aarav, played by Emraan Hashmi at one of her jobs in arranging flowers for his hotel. He offers her a job in Dubai but she refuses. Later Vasudha learns that her husband Hari, played by Rajkummar Rao killed 5 journalists and is a wanted terrorist. Fearing for her son’s future she accepts the job.
Aarav is besotted by her and tells her he loves her. She too starts to fall in love with him. Suddenly one Hari returns in her life and she tells him about Aarav and he gets furious and leaves. He gets arrested and the police later tell Vasudha that he has accepted his crime. This makes her guilty thinking that he sacrificed his life for his family and refuses to marry Aarav. Later Aarav learns that Hari did it on purpose so she would live in guilt all her life. Meanwhile Aarave steps on a landmine and dies. Vasudha tells Hari she knows he lied just to make her guilty and he apologizes, but she leaves him. Years later after she passes away, Hari takes her ashes and scatters them on the ground Aarav had died to finally unite them.
