The story of Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, revolves around three students who have passed out from The Hindu College in Delhi. The three friends are namely; Siddharth, played by Kay Kay Menon, Geeta, played by Chaitrangada Singh and Vikram, played by Shiney Ahuja. Siddharth’s ideologies lie in ending caste-based discrimination in his hometown of Bihar and thus bringing social justice. Geeta, is in love with Siddharth and just returned from London. Siddharth however, always holds his ground on his beliefs, giving little importance to Geeta, breaking her heart.
Vikram wants to become big and successful in life but his father’s Gandhian ways always are a hindrance in his goals and this has upset him time and again. Now the three friends move on with their respective lives, where Siddharth leaves for Bihar to bring about a change, Geeta to London to get her Oxford degree and Vikram sets up his own office in Delhi. Geeta meanwhile gets married to an IAS Officer Arun, played by Ram Kapoor but since she’s in love with Siddharth, isn’t happy. Vikram is in love with Geeta and isn’t happy on knowing she is married.
Meanwhile Geeta divorces Arun and goes to Bihar to live with Siddharth and bears his child and sends it to her parent’s in London to care for. The cops arrest Geeta and Siddharth for creating unrest in the village. She gets bailed out by her ex-husband. She thinks Siddharth is dead and is depressed but later learns that he is alive. Vikram while going to meet him meets with an accident and is admitted in the same hospital as Siddharth. The Naxalites break into the hospital and free Siddharth but leave Vikram. The cops blame him for being responsible for Siddharth’s escape and beat Vikram with iron rods, leading to brain damage and leaves him handicapped. Geeta then refuses to meet or go with Siddharth and stays back with Vikram, who is now unable to speak. She takes care of him.
The movie is directed by Sudhir Mishra and produced by Rangita Pritish Nandy. The music is composed by Shantanu Moitra.
