Satyaprakash is married to Laxmi and all her three children die in childbirth. This puts a huge pressure on her husband and his mother thinking they will never have a son to carry forward the legacy of the family. Thus Satyaprakash ends up remarrying Rukhmani. After a few months Rukhmani becomes pregnant and so does Laxmi. Both the women end up giving birth to sons. Laxmi’s son is named Rajkumar while Rukhmani’s son is named Lakhan. Soon after Rajkumar is abducted and Laxmi is left in the care of Rukhmani and her brother who ill-treat her. Meanwhile Satyaprakash is arrested for a man’s murder.
A man claiming to be Rajkumar comes to help Laxmi and rescues her. Soon it turns out that the man was a prison inmate with Satyaprakash. The film is directed by Prayag Raj and produced by A Suryanaryan. The music is composed by Dixit and R D Burman. The story is written by Prayag Raj and the dialogue is written by Kader Khan. The star cast includes Ashok Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Nutan, Madhuri Dixit, Shakti Kapoor, Gulshan Grover, Sharat Saxena, Bharat Bhushan, Pran, Kader Khan, Vikas Anand, Krishma, Vinod Raut, Vali Ansari, Birbal, Maqsood, Bindu, Lalita Pawar, Shubha Khote and Rekha Sahay.
