Veera, played by Alia Bhatt is a bubbly yet subdued girl from Delhi, whose father is a rich businessman. He arranges her marriage to Vinay, who she doesn’t really love but is engaged to. One day before her wedding she gets abducted from a petrol station while Vinay just sits in the car paralyzed with fear. The gang that kidnaps her realizes she is a well-connected father’s daughter and they panic. But one of the kidnappers, Mahabir, played by Randeep Hooda goes on with the plan.

They drive around and keep moving her from one place to another hiding her in their truck. Veera, surprisingly feels free and happy when she’s with the abductors and keeps talking to them a lot, much to Mahabir’s annoyance. She starts liking Mahabir and his meek ways. She learns that he loves his mother a lot and sings to him like she used to. He gets very frustrated and tells her to leave him alone.

They later realize that Veera’s father is almost close to tracking them down and they don’t want to get into trouble so Mahabir tells Veera to go back to her house, but she refuses. Veera has fallen in love with Mahabir and doesn’t ever want to leave him. Mahabir starts to have feelings for her and likes the way she cares for him. They start falling in love and find a small house on a mountain and sleep peacefully that night. In the morning the police have already found them both and when Mahabir comes out of the house they shoot him and he dies on the spot. Veera is devastated and screams but they tranquilize her and take her back to her house. There when the entire family is gathered to see her she reveals how her uncle used to sexually abuse her as a little child.
