Hindi Medium is directed by Saket Chaudhary /Raj Batra, produced by Dinesh Vijan /Bhushan Kumar/ Krishan Kumar (T Series and Maddock Films), starring Irfan Khan, Saba Qamar, Dishita Sehgal, Deepak Dobriyal,Amrita Singh and Neha Dhupia .Released on the 19th of May 2017 to critical acclaim.
The story is about a rich businessman couple Raj Batra (Irfan Khan) and Mita Batra(Saba Qamar’s debut film) who want to admit their daughter in one of the top schools, Delhi Grammar School but they have their own rules and regulations and admit students staying within the 3 kilometres boundary of the school. Since the parents have studied in Hindi Medium it is difficult for them as they have to pass the interview so hire a consultant to groom them but unfortunately they fail to deliver the dialogues and the truth comes out and are not given admission. The couple even decide to move to a home where the admission would be possible for their child in the particular school. More of a status reason these days parents want their children to be admitted in a particular high end school. The film showcases today’s education system which is more like a business as well the norms one has to fulfil for the admission process.
Raj Batra tries different means but is unsuccessful and finally admit their daughter in a Government run Hindi Medium School. The movie deals with social themes which include education, parenting, social mobility and language.
