Hope Aur Hum is a family drama released on 11th May 2018 produced by Samira Bandyopadhyay for her banner, Thumbnail Pictures and is directed by Sudip Bandyopadhyay. Starring in the film are Naseeruddin Shah, Sonali Kulkarni, Aamir Bashir, and Naveen Kasturia in the lead roles.
The film was conceived by Sudip Bandyopadhyah, the director of the film during his college days in Kolkata and says the script is written with the characters is actually based on the real people that he came across then in his life.
The protagonist roles are that of Nagesh Srivastava played by Naseeruddin Shah is also a character that he drew from his college days, a photocopy machine owner whom he had known, his school headmaster, his football coach and a little bit of the script has his own life too.
Set in the present day, the film is of a father who is obsessed with an old school copying machine which creates havoc in the family causing a lot of disturbance and bringing about a change in the relationships. The film unfolds to explore the life of each family member and how their lives change or are interconnected with each other and shows three different generations going through different journey and struggle to find peace within and at the end how the family comes together to respond to the change and acceptance.
