Professor Hans joins the Oceanic College in the city as the new principal. He is well respected and gets along with his students and other teachers. Things take an ugly turn in his life, when his only teenage daughter Priya is one day raped and killed. He is devastated and tries desperately to find clues but is unable to get any answers. That is when he begins to suspect one of his college students named Shammi, who is the son of a powerful minister. Hans contacts police inspector Khan and asks him to investigate but he is unable to take any action against Shammi. Two college students who are following the case decide to help Hans and trick Shammi into confessing his crime.

The film is directed by Dev Anand and produced by Devina. The music is composed by R D Burman and the screenplay is written by Dev Anand. The cinematography is by K Prabhakar. The star cast includes Dev Anand, Bunty Behl, Richa Sharma, Tabbu, Zarina Wahab, Shreeram Lagu, Anupam Kher, Tabassum, Ramesh Deo, Johny Gardner, Bharat Kapoor, Pinchoo Kapoor, Dinesh Hingoo, Bandini, and Leena Dass.
