Ajay is orphaned at a young age and lives a life full of struggles. As he grows up he becomes more confident and earns his living somehow. He then meets the wealthy Aarti and falls in love with her. Both soon plan on getting married and she makes him meet her father. The later is flabbergasted that his daughter is seeing someone from such a low standard and asks her never to see him again. He also demands that if they are to marry, Ajay must become just as rich as them. Ajay then mysteriously disappears from Aarti’s life. She is devastated but never gives up the hope of seeing him again.
One day Aarti meets a man who looks exactly like Ajay but claims that his name is Vijay. He dances on the streets to make his living. His brother who is an inspector, finds out that Vijay dances to distract people while his friends rob people who are watching the performance. The film is directed by Shibu Mitra and produced by Pankaj Nihalani. The music is composed by Bappi Lahiri. The story and screenplay is written by Ram Kelkar. The star cast includes Shashi Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Govinda, Neelam, Anita Raj, Tej Sapru, Manek Irani, Raj Kiran, Ramesh Deo, Prem Chopra, Dinesh Hingoo and Shraddha Verma.
