Mrs. Sethi, played by Shabana Azmi is a widow and desperately looking for a suitable boy to get her lonely and single daughter, Roopi married. All her efforts are turned futile by her daughter who rudely rejects every proposal that her mother thinks is ideal for her. Mrs. Sethi, out of frustration and anger kills all the rejected men by her great gastronomic skills. The police meanwhile are searching a serial killer who is killing people with his/her great cooking skills.

 

Mrs. Sethi has absolutely no remorse for her actions, until the spirits of the dead men come to haunt her. Their souls cannot be reincarnated until their killer dies first. Mrs. Sethi learns this fact but pleads with the spirits that she will die only after her daughter is happily married off. Now the spirits have a task for them to find a suitable boy for Roopi in order to give peace to their soul.

 

Roopi happens to get attracted to the officer who is investigating the case of the serial murders. She is now pursuing him as a potential life partner but little does he know of what lies ahead of him. The movie is directed by Gurinder Chadha and produced by  Paul Mayeda Berges and Gurinder Chadha. The star cast includes Shaheen Khan, Goldy Notay, Shabana Azmi, Sally Hawkins, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Mark Addy, Ray Panthaki, Jack Gordon, Zoë Wanamaker, Jimi Mistry, Ace Bhatti, Preeya Kalidas and Catherine Balavage.
