Vidisha is an evil queen who is jealous of her step daughter Nagmati. Thus one day she tricks her and leaves her deep into the forest as a child. Nagmati is deavastated and scared but soon she is rescued by a goddess Nagdevi, who turns Nagmati into a beautiful maiden with her magical powers. Nagmati then marries prince Vijay and gives birth to son Pratap. One day however a wicked magician lays eyes on Nagmati and he is mesmerized by her beauty and exuberance. He thus abducts her and wants to keep her for himself. When prince Vijay tries to rescue his princess, he is turned by an ugly leper by the magician.
Soon Pratap takes on the responsibility of freeing his parents from the evil crutches of the magician and manages to destroy his entire evil kingdom. The film is directed by K Shankar and produced by S Parasnath. The music is composed by Illayaraja. The star cast includes Sarat Babu, Sridevi, Manju Bhargavi and Sudarshan.
