Sanam is the only daughter of Surendra and Sushma. She lives in the hostel while her parents and brother Jatin, live in the city in an apartment. When they sell off a large land plot to builders, their luck changes and they are now wealthy. Sanam then lives with them in a huge bungalow. The newly acquired riches makes them arrogant. Soon Sanam falls in love with middle class Karan and this is not tolerated by his friend Jatin. He hatches a plan with his father and gets Karan arrested. Soon Sanam is too arrested. Realizing that their parents will never
understand their love, the young couple elopes. Goons are sent after the couple but they are rescued by Karan’s friend uncle Joe. As Sanam and Karan settle into their little world of love, she comes to know that Karan has started smuggling to make more money and match up his standards to her father. The film is directed and produced by Ramesh Behl. The music is composed by R D Burman and the story is written
by Humayun Mirza. The star cast includes Karan Shah, Jatin Malhotra, Moushumi Chatterjee, Sharmila Tagore, Neelam, Navin Nischol, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Shammi and Anupam Kher.
