Shashi goes through a traumatic time after his elder sister loses her life due to her in-laws’ dowry demands. He and his group of friends then pledge never to take or give dowry under any circumstance and punish anyone who asks for it. He then goes on to marry his girlfriend Sugandha without taking any dowry. He also arranges his younger sister Rama’s wedding to Ravi. However, Ravi’s parents aren’t happy about this arrangement and want Ravi to remarry a rich girl who can give them lots of dowry. Ravi however is against this plan. His parents then plan on sending Ravi on a work visit and in the meantime get rid of a pregnant Rama. Things go horribly wrong and Rama is badly burned and hospitalized.
Rama is then falsely accused of trying to kill her mother-in-law and arrested. Ravi long with Shashi then try to fight odds and save Rama. In the bargain Ravi gets badly injured and his father realizes his mistake and vows never to take or ask for dowry again. The film is directed by Arun Bhatt and produced by Jay Mehta. The music is composed by Khayyam. The star cast includes Aamir Khan, Farha, Kader Khan,Javed Jaffery,UtpalDutt,Asrani,Satyen Kappu and Shubha Khote.
