Anuradha, played by Aishwarya Rai is a single mother to daughter Sanaya and is the country’s best criminal lawyer who has never lost a case in her career. On one fateful day, at an event at her daughter’s school, Sanaya gets abducted. The abductors call Anuradha and ask her defend a criminal called Niyaaz to see her daughter alive. He is charged with rape and murder of Sia. Anuradha does not tell anyone about her daughters kidnapping to avoid panicking the kidnappers.
All the evidence suggests that Niyaaz is the murderer, but Anuradha has to find a way to win the case. She takes the help of an ex-cop Yohan, played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui who is also her friend. The case is of interest to a politician Mahesh, played by Jackie Shroff because, his son was Sia’s boyfriend and he helped dump Sia’s body after Niyaaz who came to deliver drugs, killed her.
Later the truth is revealed that Sia’s mother Garima, played by Shabana Azmi is the one who kidnapped Sanaya and is looking after her. Garima wanted Niyaaz to go scott free so that she could kill him with her bare hands and avenge her daughters murder.
