At Waterloo station in London, Rikki, played by Abhishek Bachchan is waiting at the train station for someone when he bumps into Alvira, played by Preity Zinta, who is also waiting for someone. They both decide to kill time by sharing a table at a café. They then talk about their respective fiancés hwo they claim to be waiting for to arrive. Rikki talks about how he met Anaida at Paris, while Alvira talks about how she met Steve, a lawyer at Madame Tussauds. They both boast about how much they love each other’s partners, etc. When the train arrives, they both bid goodbyes and exchange numbers. Turns out that they both have fallen in love and weren’t waiting for their fiancés but Rikki was waiting for his business partner while Alvira her relatives.
Alvira and Rikki lie about being engaged and assume their love is unrequited. One day Alvira calls up Rikki, and claims he accidentally dialed it and the two decide to meet at a disco where there is a dance competition. Alvira then blackmails Satvinder, played by Bobby Deol to be Steve, while Rikki convinces a hooker named Laila, played by Lara Dutta to be his fiancé Anaida. The two couples take part in the dance competition and Rikki and Laila win. An upset Alvira storms out. Later they come to know they truth when Satvinder says he has fallen in love with Laila and is not engaged to Alvira. Rikki and Alvira confess their love for each other.
The movie is directed by Shaad Ali and produced by Yash and Aditya Chopra. The music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Gulzar.
