Shankar is a man of his word and lives a happy-go-lucky life. He falls in love with Urmila, played by Juhi Chawla and they both decide to get married soon. Urmila’s father however, is a retired police officer named Abhayankar, played by Amrish Puri, who is very strict in his approach and has brought up his daughter in a very orthodox way. He is furious to know that Urmila has fallen in love with an ordinary man. Shankar thus makes it his personal mission in life to win over his to be father-in-law. He thus concocts a series of lies where he tries to win him over.
The movie is directed and produced by Hrishikesh Mukherjii. The music is composed by Anand Milind and the lyrics are written by Anand Bakshi. The screenplay is written by Sachin Bhowmick and Hrishikesh Mukherjee. The dialogues are written by Z D Lari.
