Jolly, played by Arshad Warsi is a lawyer from Delhi and living with his brother-in-law Pratap, played by Manoj Pahwa. He is in love with Sandhya, played by Amrita Rao. He is highly inspired by criminal lawyer Tejinder, played by Boman Irani who wins the case of defending a wealthy boy Rahul Dewan who kills six people on the footpath while being drunk and driving his Land Cruiser car. Desperate for fame and money he files a PIL against Rahul in court.
Turns out the witness in of the accident Albert Pinto, is been paid by Tejinder and they plan to extract more money from the Dewan family. Pinto promises a share of his money to Jolly and turns hostile in court. Sandhya and Kaul however, criticize Jolly for being dishonest and making money by depriving someone of justice. Jolly then returns the money to Tejinder and challenges them in court.
Jolly then does everything in his power and also meet the accident survivor in Gorakhpur to fight the case. He then collects enough that proves Rahul Dewan is guilty and is sentenced to 7 years in prison. Thus Tejinder loses his first case ever. The movie is directed by Subhash Kapoor and produced by Fox Star Studios. The music is composed by Krsna.
