Shekhar is a diligent and honest police inspector living with his wife Meena and daughter. He gets tipped off that a well known editor has very crucial evidence against some influential people. The editor is thus given police protection, but before he can present his statements he is brutally murdered. Geeta who is a key witness in this murder is then protected by Shekhar and his colleague Pramod. In the meanwhile Shekhar and Geeta fall in love. Meena suspects that Shekhar is having an affair and gets him to confess. Heart broken and devastated, Meena leaves the house and stays with her father. Meanwhile Pramod gets wounded saving Geeta. Later Shekhar comes to know that the editor’s murder is the inside job of many high-ranking officials.
The movie is directed by Mahesh Bhatt and produced by Mukesh Bhatt. The music is composed by Rajesh Roshan. The story and screenplay is written by Salim Khan. The cinematography is by Madeem Khan and the choreography is by Saroj Khan. The star cast includes Vinod Khanna, Meenakshi Sheshadri,Sangeeta Bijlani, Shafi Inamdar, Om Shivpuri and Mahesh Anand.
