Jurmana Is directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, produced by Debesh Ghosh, Shri Lokenath Chitramandir, released on the 11th of May 1979, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Mehra, Raakhee, Dr Sriram Lagoo and Asrani.
A building contractor from Delhi Inder Saxena (Amitabh Bachchan) has an attitude that money can buy anything and is most important. He is sent by his uncle on a project to Pratapgarh where he meets his college mate Prem Prakash Trivedi (Vinod Mehra) and his college professor Dayashanakar Sharma (Sriram Lagoo) with his daughter Rama (Raakhee). Both Inder & Prakash admire Rama, Prakash explains to Inder that she is a very simple girl who does not get allured by money. Inder tries his best to woo her and finally publishes her book of poems, she is very delighted, so when he asks her to meet him she agrees but tells lies to her father that she is going to meet Laila (Farida Jalal) her friend. Prakash and her father land up at Inder’s house, sees her in his bedroom and are shocked. Humiliated, she leaves and travels to Delhi, but is robbed on the way so gets down at the platform. The station master Nandalal (Asrani) gives her shelter. The train meets with an accident and the police inform her father that she is dead though Inder does not believe. He decides to go in search of her, when one day he hears her singing on the radio . Inder finds her and their past misunderstandings are cleared. They come together and the film ends with a happy ending.
