The movie is directed by Karan Johar, produced by Hiroo Yash Johar. Released on the 11th of August 2006. It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kiron Kher, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukherjee. It was a romantic drama, set mostly in New York City.

Dev Saran (Shah Rukh Khan) is a successful Soccer player who signs one of his biggest contract,  lives with his wife Rhea (Preity Zinta) Son Arjun (Ahsaas Channa) & mother Kamal (Kiron Kher).

Maya (Rani Mukherjee) is an orphan who marries her closest childhood friend Rishi Talwar (Abhishek Bachchan). Both are brought up by Samarjit Talwar (Amitabh Bachchan) a fun-loving father to Rishi. Maya accidentally meets Dev, instantly click, as they part, Dev meets with an accident, injuring his leg and loses his contract.

There are marital problems between Dev and Rhea who has a successful career. On the other side Maya cannot bear a child so there are problems between her and Rishi and no compatibility between the couple. Meanwhile Samarjit & Komal share a nice friendship, both have lost their spouses.

Maya and Dev get attracted to each other and they begin meeting clandestinely. Both their spouses and family get to know and there is some kind of misunderstanding between the lovers.  

In the end Dev &Maya get together and begin a new life. Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of a very broad minded happy go lucky father and his role in the film is much enjoyed by the audience.
