Kamli and Tani are sisters brought up in a middle class household in a small town in Maharashtra. Tani gets married to Bhaurao and lives in the village, while Kamli settles with her husband and daughter in Mumbai. After her husband’s death, Kamli struggles with everything and goes into depression. Soon she passes away leaving her daughter behind. Her brother Sreepu takes her to live with Tani, who welcomes her with open arms but her husband isn’t very pleased about her coming. Tani however is undeterred and makes up her mind to give her all the love and nurturing she possibly can.
Tani then gets the girl admission into the village school, but the teacher named Deshpande humiliates her and gets her admission terminated. Tani doesn’t give up and puts her in another school. This brings stability and joy into the little girl’s life but Tani’s life is a mess as she has found out that her husband is having an affair with her maidservant. Things will be very different from then on.
The movie is directed and produced by Amol Palekar. The music is composed by Bhaskar Chandavarkar. The star cast includes Atul Kulkarni, Shilpa Navalkar, Yogita Deshmukh, Vasant Abaji Dahanke, Nimish Kathale, Akshay Pendse, Atul Kulrani, Mohan Gokhale, Leena Bhagwat and Sonali Kulkarni. The screenplay is written by Amol Palekar and Chitra Palekar. The cinematography is by Deepak Anjaria, Debu Deodhar.
