Kalicharan

Kalicharan is a 1976 action drama film directed by Subhash Ghai starring Shatrughan Sinha in a double role.  Along with co-stars Reena Roy, Ajit , Danny Denzongpa, Madan Puri and Premnath. 

The plot starts with Din Dayal(Ajit) who is a rich and is supposed to be an honest, piour clean hearted man. However, in reality he is an underworld terror and is known by the name of LION and is one of the biggest crime leader.  The world outside is not aware of his involvement in almost every illegal act namely the black marketing, smuggling and robberies that take place under his wing.  He is a good friend to IGP Khanna( Premnath).

Seeing the growing crime rate and the sorry state of the city, he decided to bring back the fearless cop Prabhakar( Shatrughan Sinha) who is a widower with two kids.  IGP Khanna treats him like his son and his children are like his own grand children.   Upon Prabhakar’s investigations he comes to know that Din Dayal is an underworld kingpin and is a demon for the society and decides to spill out his beans and inform IGP and others but he is killed by Din Dayal’s men.  Inspector Prabhakar dies leaving behind his two children in the custody of IGP Khanna but on his death bed he leaves a clue about the criminal which is not very clear.  IGP Khanna is heartbroken and loses hope but he comes across an uncouth and fearless, beastly prisoner Kalicharan( Shatrughan Sinha) a complete look alike of Prabhakar.   Khanna turns to him seeking his help to nab the culprits of the killers of Prabhakar as well as bring law and order in the city. It is a big challenge for Khanna and his team to reform Kalicharan. Kalicharan himself was in the jail for killing the people who had raped his sister and was in search of culprit Shetty .  On the other hand, Kalicharan cooperates with Khanna and slowly and steadily turns to a new leaf and becomes the role model and becomes the Police Inspector. He also loves the two children of Prabhakar and cares for them as his own.  In the process he wins the love of Sapna (Reena Roy) and wins friendship with Shaaka( Danny Denzongpa) and together they nab the underworld as well as his his old enemy Shetty. The film ends with a happy ending.
