Shama is abducted from her home at a very young age and is sold to a brothel and renamed as Surajmukhi. She grows up to be a well-known courtesan. One day when Yuvraaj Singh and his men try to molest Surajmukhi, a dacoit named Sultan saves her and loots all the gold and money from the Singhs and gives it to her. The Singhs go to the police and complaint against Sultan. Surajmukhi performs a prayer for him and soon the two are married and have a daughter named Munni. Meanwhile she tells Sultan to surrender to the cops which is almost does but is sadly gunned down and killed. Yuvraaj and his men now abduct Surajmukhi and Munni.
The film is directed by Mohan Segal and produced by N P Singh. The music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal and the story is written by Ali Raza. The star cast includes Dharmendra, Suresh Oberoi, Rekha, Alok Nath, Danny Denzongpa, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Gulshan Grover, Om Shivpuri, Jagdeep, Chandrashekhar, Sushma Seth, Anjana Mumtaz and Gouri Verma.
