Ranchhod Patel, played by Paresh Rawal, is an arrogant and self-absorbed Indian businessman. He came from India many years ago and settled in New York city to make it big. He started his career with humble beginnings and then went on to become a successful real estate magnate. His property and riches are spread far and wide. He now calls himself the ‘Roger Patel’ much to the dismay of his peers. After marriage he had two daughters who he named Ritu and Namrata.
Namrata’s marriage is arranged to a property owner named Prem who is a Patel and from a similar status like theirs, while Ritu informs her dad that she is in love with a man named Sunder Kapoor, played by Jimmy Shergill. Sunder is half Punjabi and half Madrasi. His status is nowhere like Ranchhod’s and he is not even a proper professional. Patel will have some tough decisions to make to convince his daughter not to marry Sunder.
The movie is directed by Rahul Dholakia and produced by Kishor Dadlaney and Lal Dadlaney. The music is composed by Jatin-Lalit.
