Two orphan boys, Dev, played by Ranveer Singh and Tutu, played by Ali Zafar are being raised by criminal Bhaiyaji, played by Goveinda to be assassins and join his gang. He teaches them all the ropes of committing the perfect crime and murdering people smoothly. Now all grown up, and being on a crime spree, Dev happens to meet Disha, played by Parineeti Chopra at a club abd they fall in love.
Love makes Dev lose interest in his work and becomes very vulnerable to the enemies. This fact infuriates Bhaiyaji and he gives a warning to Dev to pull up his socks to survive the dangerous profession they are in. On one of the major assignments, Dev loses track and is unsuccessful in killing the target. Bhaiyaji gets furious and threatens to kill him. This time Tutu advices Dev to get another job but always be there when Bhaiyaji needs him.
After getting a fake MBA degree, Dev lands an insurance job and plans his marriage to Disha. Although she is unaware of his real identity, Bhaiyaji decides to tell her all. Bhaiyaji’s men come to kill Dev but Tutu saves him but Disha breaks up with him. A heartbroken Dev turns to assassination again. He records why he became an assassin and sends it to Disha. Meanwhile he gets shot and is taken to the hospital by Tutu where Disha is waiting for him. They reconcile and Bhaiyaji later gets killed.
Kill Dil is directed by Shaad Ali and produced by Aditya Chopra. The music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Gulzar.
