Pratap gets thrown out of his house due to his bad habits. He is then adopted by a wealthy man named Laxminath, when he saves his son from drowning. Laxminath also has a younger son of his own named Atul, who becomes close to Pratap. They all live in a chawl area, which is ruled by a powerful gangster named Chattursingh. He along with a builder named Yograj want to evacuate the people and use the land to build a resort. He has a soft corner for a journalist named Megha. He later learns that her parents were killed by Chattursingh and she was also molested by him. Pratap kills him and is arrested. He is given the death sentence. All the country stands by him for what he has done. Just in the final moments when he was about to be hanged a lawyer announces that Pratap death penalty has been revoked.
