Laandhar

“Laandhar” is a 2024 Tamil drama-thriller film directed and written by Sajiseelam and produced by Shri Vishnu under the banner M. Cinema Production. Vidharth and Swetha Dorothy star in the movie, which takes place over the course of one night and features mystery, suspense, and thriller-like drama.

Based in Kovai, the story is of “ACP Aravind” (Vidharth), who is a clean and courageous policeman. After cracking the fake liquor racket, he comes home early to spend a peaceful night with his wife “Jaanu” (Swetha Dorothy), who suffers from debilitating loneliness and fears being left alone. But their peaceful night is disturbed when the strange case is presented to his doorstep: eyewitnesses have reported seeing a strange raincoat-wearing figure with a limp on the city streets, battering any passerby.

As Aravind investigates, he finds that several officers have already been attacked by this masked villain. Meanwhile, there is another love subplot between “Nakul” (Vibin) and “Manju” (Sahana), a couple who have some unresolved issues. When Manju finds a medical report, it causes a deep emotional response, something sinister happening in her past. What do these seemingly unrelated happenings have in common? Who is the raincoat-clad attacker and why is he conducting this senseless violent rampage?

As night falls, the film goes into issues of trauma, justice, and human resilience. Aravind, on the other hand, attempts to track down the attacker in a city filled with ruffians, crooks, and rash decisions. Despite being warned in the most explicit terms, the police keep attempting to bring him down in close combat, getting defeated themselves, as mayhem escalates.

With its suspenseful storyline, haunting environment, and strong performances, “Laandhar” keeps the viewers in suspense. The film raises questions about violence, past traumas, and hidden relationships that all come together in a dramatic climax.
