Laxmi is brought up in a poor household and marries Vijay, the son of a wealthy zamindar. Their married life is peaceful and soon she gives birth to a boy and named him Ajay. Vijay meanwhile goes abroad to study further and returns after a few years. A party is thrown to welcome him. Unfortunately after the party, there is a horrific accident and Vijay dies. A pregnant Laxmi is left widowed with a young son. Her in-laws
now start blaming her for all the misfortune in the family and begin to ill-treat her. She eventually leaves home and comes across a red light area. She then becomes a dancer, preserving her modesty. She then gives birth to a daughter and names her Geeta. The pimp Habu treats Laxmi like his sister and sends Geeta to a boarding school to keep her away from the brothel environment. Soon Ajay and Geeta grow up. Ajay is sent abroad to study while Laxmi wants to get Geeta married in a good household. One day Moti Seth, who was once Laxmi’s admirer has evil intentions for Geeta. Laxmi is furious at this and poisons him to death. The film is directed by B S Thapa and produced by Raja Desai. The music is composed by Usha Khanna. The star cast includes Bharat Kapoor, Nadira, Raj Babbar, Reena Roy, Dina Pathak, Om Shiv Puri and Ranjit.
