Lal Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) lives with his mother in a small chawl in Mumbai, growing up in a poor -needy environment, but is loved by all and called Lal Badshah. He fights against crime. He has a clash with a don called Vikram Singh (Raghuvaran) the son of Dayal Singh (Amrish Puri) who lives in a castle out of Mumbai. Ajit Singh (Mukesh Rishi) is a corrupt police officer who wants to rule the city.
Lal Badshah meets Kiran (Manisha Koirala) a L.I.C agent who falls in love with him. Dayal Singh tries to murder Dewan Ranbir Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) as he had the treasures of the Maharaja. In the end what is the link between Lal Singh & Ranbir Singh?
