The story of the movie revolves around two lovers Laila and Kais. They are childhood friends and eventually fall in love as they grow up. They decide to get married, but unfortunately their families are staunch enemies of each other and are completely against the union. Laila’s father forbids her from seeing Kais and locks her inside the house and keeps guards to watch the palace. He orders the guards to kill Kais if he is seen around the premises. He then goes to his house and warns them that he will be killed if he ventures close. He however goes to see Laila and is grievously wounded. HE is taken home and recuperates.
Laila’s father decides to relocate and moves away and gets her forcibly married to Ign-e-Salaam. She is devastated and doesn’t allow him to come close to her. After his recovery Kais looks everywhere for Laila but is unable to find her. He wanders the desert and loses his mind. People then start calling him Manju, which means a crazy lover. Eventually Laila finds him sick and battered near a Durgah and they both die in each other’s arms. The film is directed by K Asif and produced by Akhtar Asif. The music is composed by Naushad.
