Pan Singh, played by Anupam Kher waits at the maternity ward of a hospital with baited breath to know weather his wife has delivered a boy or girl. The news is shared by the nurse that he is father to a boy. His happiness has no bounds and he celebrates. The boy is named Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
As a kid Dhoni is a very energetic child and enjoy playing sports especially Cricket. While he is goalkeeping as a teenager a cricket coach spots him and invites him to try wicket keeping at the teams match. Being impressed by Dhoni’s performance, the coach selects him to play future matches with them. He helps them win an inter-school match and also gets selected in the Ranji Trophy but due to the draft notice coming in too late he misses the chance to play.
To impress his father, Dhoni decides to work as a ticket collector at the Kharagpur railway station. However, he gets depressed with the job after a while. The railway manager notices Dhoni’s distress and advices him to play cricket after work. Dhoni takes his advice and gets selected in the Railway Cricket Team. He urges his father to allow him to leave his job and get selected in the national team.
One day he meets an office consultant called Priyanka, played by Disha Patani and falls in love. She gifts him a watch on Valentines day but fatefully dies in a car accident. Dhone gets miserable and heartbroken. He is unable to play the cricket World Cup in 2007 well. He later wins the T-20 Worl Cup, pushing India to number one in test matches.
In 2010, Dhoni meets Sakshi, played by Kiara Advani and they fall in love and decide to get married. Dhoni later builds his new team for the World Cup in 2011 and wins the finals. The movie is directed by Neeraj Pandey and produced by Arun Pandey and Fox Star Studios. The music is composed by Sanjoy Chowdhury and Amaal Mallik.
