Major Raghavan, played by Sunil Shetty is in favor of the peace operations between India and Pakistan. He has been an ex para commando and now a militant. He targets the assassination of General Bakshi, played by Kabir Bedi but is saved by Brigadier Shekhar, played by Naseeruddin Shah and takes the bullet. One his death bed he confides in his son Major Ram Sharma, played by Shahrukh Khan that he is his illegitimate son and is the reason his wife and son left him years ago. His last wish is to see them all together. Meanwhile General Bakshi assigns the job of protecting his daughter, Sanjana, played by Amrita Rao, who’s life is in danger. He asks Ram to join her college as an undercover student.
Ram also learns that his half brother Lucky studies in the same college. He soon befriends Lucky and Sanjana and gets into their group. He also learns that Sanjana has a crush on Lucky and helps them get together. Meanwhile Ram himself falls for a teacher named Ms. Chandni, played by Sushmita Sen. He slowly gets into the good books of his father’s first wife Mrs. Sharma, played by Kirron Kher and considers her his mother. Meanwhile Raghavan’s many attempts to kill Sanjana are failed by Ram. To get Ram out of his way, Raghavan reveals his true identity to Lucky and his mother. They are furious at learning that Ram is their father’s illegitimate son and kicks him out of the house.
Raghavan meanwhile takes Lucky, Sanjana and the college hostage. Ram does everything he can to protect them, thus Lucky and his mother finally accept him as his brother and son. The movie is directed by Farah Khan and produced by Gauri Khan. The music is composed by Anu Malik.
