In the drought hit village of Laholi, the villagers have mortgaged their belongings to the Thakurani. Meanwhile the only recreation the villagers have is a lottery ticket called Malamaal Weekly where someone wins a grand prize. The only educated man in the village is Lilaram, played by Paresh Rawal, who can read the tickets and is a intermediary between the villagers and the lottery company. He finds out that one of the ticket lottery prizes is Rs 1 Crore. He thus decides to keep the wining ticket for himself.
Lilaram then hosts a dinner at his house and calls all the people with lottery tickets to know who has the wining lottery but the person holding that ticket doesn’t turn up. Eventually they learn Anthony, a drunkard has the ticket but he has died holding the ticket in his hand. Lilaram tries to take the ticket but has to forcefully take it with a knife, due to Anthony’s stiff dead body. Later Many people learn of the lottery ticket and are after it. Meanwhile the lottery inspector, played by Arbaaz Khan comes and gives the demand draft to which the whole village distribute among themselves.
The movie is directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Suresh Balaje. The music is composed by Uttankk V Vorra. The cinematography is by Sameer Arya.
