Mamta is an Emotional-Romantic Family Drama Film crafted with excellence by Asit Sen. The Story revolves around the life of Monish Rai (played by Ashok Kumar)- A Wealthy man living with his family fells in love with a poor girl Devyani (played by Suchitra Sen) and agrees to marry her. He went abroad for work and Devyani's Financial Situation gets worse and asks Monish Mother for assistance but she declines, leading her to marry an Elder Man addicted to Alcohol and she leaves him after years with her Daughter Suparna and gave Suparna to a Nun in the Church for her care and she leaves forever, leading Monish in a quest to her.
