Hiralal Sinha is a wealthy man, who runs a successful mill. He however is hell bent on getting more and more profit for his company and thus keeps changings rules and procedures constantly. This causes a lot of inconvenience to the workers and thus the union leader Dinanath opposes Hirala and confronts him publicly. A furious Sinha demands that Dinanath give him a written apology for his behavior. However, not only does Dinanath refuse but also gives his resignation. He promises to start his own mill and become successful with honest and good means. He thus takes the help of and employs a struggling engineer named Ashok and starts building his mill. Soon he employers many workers and the work in the mill starts in full swing. Dinanath even gets his daughter Meena married to Ashok. This does not auger well with a wealthy girl named Smita, who is in love with Ashok and wants to marry him. She wreaks havoc in their family. The film is directed and produced by Ravi Chopra. The music is composed by R D Burman. The star cast includes Dilip Kumar, Raj Babbar, Padmini Kolhapure, Rati Agnihotri, Raj Kiran and Suresh Oberoi.
