Pooja, played by Rani Mukerjee is married to Niranjan by her parents. The family gives all that they can to Niranjan’s family but soon her cruel mother-in-law and sister-in-law start to show their true colors. They start complaining about how little jewelry and money Pooja’s family has given them. Niranjan seems to just listen to all this as he is newly married. Soon Pooja goes to visit her family and stay there along with Niranjan. Her sister Neha is bubbly and mischievous and loves to play pranks on Niranjan. He however has a roving eye for her, which no one notices. One day he asks Pooja’s father for Rs 10 lakh to start a factory but he refuses saying he already has a lot of debt to clear. This makes Niranjan furious and he leaves.
After a few days Pooja goes back to her in-laws, but this time she is not welcomed. They keep taunting her and ill-treating her. Niranjan complains that her father didn’t fulfill his wishes and she should go back if he cannot give the money. She asks him to wait for sometime till he can get the money. Niranjan has a habit of visiting brothels and he does so one night and gets caught in a murder. He is then arrested. One of the witnesses says he wants to spend the night with Pooja in return for Niranjan’s innocence proof. She reluctantly agrees but he never even touches her. Soon Niranjan is released and he questions Pooja’s character and asks for a divorce. She then stands up for herself and in the end she is proved to be the one harassed and the others are punished.
The movie is directed by Hamid Ali and produced by Salim Merchant. The star cast includes Shakti Kapoor, Arjun, Pramod Moutho, Joginder, Shashi Sharma, Mahavir Shah, Shahbaaz Khan, Raza Murad, Yunus Perwaiz, Ashish Nagpal, Gulshan Grover, Himani Shivpuri, Ushma Rathod, Shagufta Ali and Mukta.
