Mere Sajna is directed by Kewal Kumar in 1975 starring Rakhee and Navin Nischol in the lead role. Helen and Ajit in pivotal supporting cast with music composed by the duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal and lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri.
The plot revolves Ratan (Navin Nischol) a criminal who works for his Master(Ajit) and his wife Sona(Helen). Ratan returns home for his mother’s funeral and comes across his childhood friend Kammo(Rakhee) who is now mentally unstable. Her wealthy father arranges for Ratan to get married to his daughter with a hope that after her marriage she will recover and become normal. Sona is in love with Ratan and when she comes to know that Ratan is getting married to Kammo for her wealth they support him, giving him idea to kill her after her marriage and inherit all her money. But Ratan has a change of heart for his wife who is his childhood friend and loves and takes care of her and soon Kammo recovers and is alright. The film ends with Master and Sona kidnapping Kammo. Ratan fights it out to save her and thus killing his Master and the long relationship with the henchmen that he wanted to get out.
