Durga, played by Sridevi is a simple but smart village girl. She marries her childhood friend Ajay, played by Akshay Kumar, who is an honest and tough police inspector. Durga’s outspokenness sometimes embarrasses Ajay but he still loves her none the less. Durga however gets into a lot of trouble for being honest and helpful. She saves a girl from being attacked by goons of Bahirav, played by Anupam Kher, who is a dreaded gangster. He then vows revenge. They then kidnap a girl who works in Durga’s house and take her to a brothel. Durga saves her but the police frame her as being a prostitute along with the girl.
When Ajay returns from his posting he is horrified at the plight of his wife and helps to clear her name from prostitution. They all join forces to fight for justice to be given to the innocent. They strive hard and go thorough many struggles but finally Durga’s name is cleared and justice prevails. The movie is directed by Pankaj Parashar and produced by S.M Iqbal. The music is composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.
