Inayat Khan, played by Sanjay Dutt is the SP and in charge of the security in Kashmir. He lives with his wife and son Irfaan. One day Irfaan meets with an accident and is gravely injured. When taken to the hospital, the doctors are forbidden to treat him due to a fatwa being reinstated by a terrorist group. As a result, Irfaan succumbs to his injuries. In a fit of rage Inayat kills several terrorists in the nearby hiding and in the crossfire also accidentally kill a local family. One a small boy named Altaaf, manages to survive. Inayat and his wife feel sorry for the boy and adopt him.
Inayat feels that one day Altaaf will know the truth and reluctantly adopts him on his wife’s insistence. Soon Altaf settles into his new home but things take a drastic turn when he finds Khan’s mask and comes to know that he was one of the police officers to kill his family. He runs away and is found by a terrorist group who take him under his wings. Years later he grows up and is assigned a deadly task called ‘Mission Kashmir’. Soon their plans are foiled and the mastermind is shot dead by the cops. Altaaf then forgives his father and goes back home.
The movie is directed and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. The cinematography is by Binod Pradhan.
