Set in 1972, Idi Amin ousted all Asians from Uganda, which included Jay, his wife Kinnu and their daughter Mina. They have been living in Kampala for years but now decide to move in England and stay there for a few years before settling in Mississippi, USA. There Mina meets a young and attractive carpet cleaner named Demetrius. They both soon fall in love and their romance blossoms everyday. However, when Mina’s family comes to know, they are appalled that Mina has fallen for a black man. Soon the neighbors and people of their community come to know and oppose their union.
