In the 18th Century a lady named Shammajaan, is admired and known for her beauty and charm. Many are a fan of her heavenly attractiveness and one among them is Shahbaaz Khan who wants to make her his wife. He goes to her palace to win her heart and woo her but she shows no interest and asks him to leave. Not taking this insult lightly, Shahbaaz then abducts Shammajaan and kills her father in the process. He keeps her in his palace till she changes her mind but she somehow cleverly manages to escape. She ends up taking refuge in the house of Ahmed Khan who respects her and assures her that Shahbaaz Khan would be able to touch her.
The cruel king however spreads the word that Shammajaan is his mistress. When Ahmed Khan hears this he is shocked and has no choice but to let her go and she is once again in the clutches of Shahbaaz Khan. The film is directed and produced by Prakash Mehra. The music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji and the story is written by L Kavish. The screenplay is written by Prakash Mehra and Laxmikant Sharma. The star cast includes Raaj Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Hema Malini, Farha, Pran, Amrish Puri, Satyen Kappu, Dina Pathak, Vijayendra,Vikas Anand, Sudhir, Gurbachan, Ram Sethi, Jr Mehmood, Manjeet Kaur, Alka Nupoor and Parveen.
