Mrityudaata is musical action film of 1997 directed by Mehul Kumar and was a comeback film of Amitabh Bacchan after he had left the film industry for a few years. The film is produced by his own production house called the ABCL(Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited. Starring himself in the film in the pivotal role along with a multistar cast , starring along with Dimple Kapadia, Karishma Kapoor, Arbaaz Khan, Paresh Rawal, Ashish Vidyarthi, Tiku Talasania, Deepak Tijori , Farida Jalal, Pran and others.

Dr. Ram Prasad (Amitabh Bacchan) a renowned and successful doctor lives with his beautiful wife Janki (Dimple Kapadia) and brother Bharat (Arbaaz Ali Khan). Dr. Ram Prasad has conducted many surgeries and some very complicated and delicate ones successfully. They live a happy life until Bharat falls in love with Renu (Karishma Kapoor) daughter of Umesh Jain (Tiku Talasania). Raja Tunga (Deepak Tijori) the brother of Rana Tunga ( Mukesh Rishi) is also in love with her due to which he and his gang severely assaults Bharath.

While Raja Tunga and Bharath become enemies, the corrupt minister Mohanlal (Ashish Vidyarthi) plans a disastrous scheme at the expense of the poor tribes who live on the project Pawanghat Power Project. Rana Tunga devises an evil plan to frame Bharath and kill him which leads his brother Raja to seek the hand of Renu. The agony of losing Bharath,  his elder brother’s wife Janki also dies of shock. With the death of his brother Bharath and his beloved wife Janki, Dr Ram Prasad takes to drinking and becomes desolate. Renu marries Raja without a hint of regretting at the death of her former lover Bharath. Due to enemity between Raja Tunga and Mohanlal the latter attacks his brother Raja and he is brought to the hospital in a critical condition where Dr. Ram Prasad is the surgeon. Renu fears that he may kill her husband Raja to avenge the death of his brother however Ram Prasad fulfils his moral duty as the Doctor and saves his life. He goes out to give the good news to Renu when Raja is killed by Mohanlal’s henchmen but Renu refuses to believe and files a case against Ram Prasad. Dr. Ram Prasad is arrested and imprisoned.

In the prison he learns that his brother has not committed suicide as they proclaimed and was tortured to death by Inspector Danapati. Dr. Ram Prasad decides to take avenge by breaking away from the jail and goes on a rampant to teach a lesson to his brother’s killers, Mohanlal and Inspector Danapati. He ends all evil motives and becomes an Angel (Mrityudata) and succumbs to his injuries in the violence against him.
