Seth Ratanlal is a wealthy man living with his daughter Indrani. They run a multi-crore company. Indrani however falls in love with an ordinary and poor man named Dinesh. When one of Ratanlal’s cunning employee Mohanlal hears of this he takes full advantage of it and poisons his mind about the love affair. Ratanlal is furious to hear about his daughter seeing a poor man and asks her to forget him but she is adamant and also reveals that she is carrying his child. Mohanlal then abducts Dinesh and beats him up. He lies to Ratanlal that he has absconded to London.

Meanwhile Ratanlal leaves town with his daughter. Mohanlal then takes the reigns in his hands and runs the business and amasses wealth. When the accountant Jagdish finds out how Mohanlal is looting the business he swears to expose him. Mohanlal gets him killed in an accident. Soon Ratanlal returns and learns how Mohanlal has taken over his business. He is unable to do anything and also has to allow his daughter Indrani to marry Mohanlal. Meanwhile Mohanlal’s son Ranjeet is an honest man and tries his best to stop his dad’s evil tactics. The film is directed by Arabind Sen and produced by Arabind Sen. The music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji. The star cast includes Rajesh Khanna, Mithun Chakraborty, Shabana Azmi, Deepti Naval, Amjad Khan, Kader Khan, Satyen Kappu, Shreeram Lagu, Dinesh Thakur, Dinesh Hingoo, Aruna Irani, Tanuja and Shubha Khote.
