Navrang is 1959 film by V. Shantaram . The film gained its popularity and is still remembered for the dance sequences by the leading actress of the film, Sandhya. Music is by C, Ramchandra while the playback is by singer Mahindra Kapoor who made his singing debut with the song ‘Aadha Hai Chandrama Raat Aadhi’ in the film. Lyrics is by Bharath Vyas.
Screenplay is also by V. Shantaram, story is by G. D. Madgulkar, starring with Sandhya is Mahipal in the lead roles.
The film is about a poet by the name of Diwakar and the love for his wife which is above everything else. But his wife Jamuna doesn’t believe this , as a poet she feels he is not acknowledging the real world but its only by sheer poetry and the fantasy world and as a wife she wants more than just his love. Through his poetry, has a fantasy on a woman named Mohini whom he tries to create through his wife’s body. Diwakar’s poetries get recognition but he loses his job due to his critical song against the British, has a sickly father to take care of and his wife leaves him too and gives birth to their son but she soon realizes she cannot live without her poet husband and returns to him and seeks forgiveness.
