In the US, Omar, played by Neil Nitin Mukesh is arrested by the FBI after weapons are found in the trunk of the car. Turns out that the cops have set him up so that they can train him to spy on his former college friend Sameer aka Sam, played by John Abraham. He later comes to know that Sameer has married Maya, who Omar had a crush on during college days. Sameer and Maya also have a son Danyal. FBI agent Roshan, played by Irrfan Khan is on the case and asks Omar to watch Sam and Maya and give all information about them.
Omar tells Roshan that Maya, Sam and him were the best of friends in college and were inseparable. However he started falling in love with Maya, but on knowing that she loves Sam he moved out of their way. The three get separated and lose touch after the 9/11 tragedy. Sam gets arrested by the FBI on suspicion of being involved in the 9/11 attacks. He is tortured by the cops and after being released finds it hard to get back to normal life. He vows to take revenge on the FBI by bombing its main building.
After Maya and Omar convince Sam not to go ahead with his attack he drops the idea but unfortunately the FBI gets the information and shoots Sam and accidentally even shoots Maya. Danyal is then adopted by Omar. The movie is directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Aditya Chopra. The music is composed by Pritam, Pankaj Awasthi and Julius Packiam.
