Soumya is a happy-go-lucky lucky brought up in a wealthy family in Mumbai by her parents. She is also a brilliant student of Science, studying in the second year at I.B Institute. She is a huge fan of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt. As a child, Soumya goes through a major surgery for getting her appendix removed and thus has a fear of needles at an early age. As she grows up, she falls in love with Ninad Kamat and the two dream of a beautiful future together. One day Ninad decides to donate his blood for charity. Seeing him, Soumya gets courage and decides to do the same. After a few days however, she gets very sick and has a high fever. The doctors suspect it might be Malaria and advice complete bed rest.
After almost 2 full months of on and off fever, Soumya’s fever finally subsides, but her blood reports come in and tell a different story. Turns out that Soumya has contacted AIDS. Her parents are devastated to know this and keep the information to themselves. Soon Soumya herself finds out and is heart broken but decides to lead a normal life. Things take a drastic turn when more people find out about her illness and disown the family. They are not even given a bed in the hospital that they normally used to visit.
The movie is directed by Mahesh Manjrekar and produced by R V Pandit. The star cast includes Shivaji Satam, Reema Lagoo, Nisha Bains, Sanjay Dutt, Mohan Joshi, Sunil Barve, Dilip Prabhavalkar, Sunil Shende, Sanjay Dutt, Shama Deshpande and Shagufta Ali. The music is composed by Rahul Ranade and the cinematography is by Vijay Arora.
